After graduating with a BA and an MA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, I worked for seven years as a classroom teacher and administrator in the public school system. I then moved to the private sector and worked for five years as the founding administrator of a not for profit foundation providing services for senior citizens. In subsequent years my business involvements became more diverse: marketing, property management, real estate development, non-profit arts administration, grant writing, and finally mortgage lending for the last 25+ years.
I’ve worked as a loan officer/manager for GMAC Mortgage, Norwest Mortgage (now Wells Fargo), Pinnacle Capital Mortgage and as broker of record and part owner of Shoreline Residential & Construction Lending in Capitola, California specializing in construction lending. In addition to my primary position as a mortgage planner with these companies, I also worked part time as an adjunct professor at Cabrillo College teaching Real Estate Principles, Finance, and Escrow.
Through it all, I’ve viewed myself as an educator and feel my highest responsibility is to educate each of my mortgage clients to the complexities of obtaining a mortgage as a way of reducing the anxiety which is usually a part of the process. “If my clients don’t know more when the loan transaction is complete as compared to when we started, I haven’t done my job properly.”
